Today’s thankful Thursday is for the kidlit writing community, especially the SCBWI crew – @deborah_abela_ @susanne_gervay @marjoriecrosbyfairall @margaretrocauthor who pulled together an amazing event on Saturday at my happy place – @statelibrarynsw. Saturday was filled with kidlit love, learning and laughter, and the opportunity for manuscript assessments beforehand was the icing on the cake. Also thankful for Kidlit activists, such as @lara_cain_gray who champions the skill, beauty and joy of picture books (race out and buy your copy of The Grown-Up’s Guide to Picture Books if you haven’t already), Rachel @gleebooks_kids who celebrates book launches with the wild abandon they deserve, and writers such as @kfosterauthor (aka Kish for reasons she can explain to you) who not only weaves stories with authentic characters but elevates original, non-stereotypical and sensitive portrayals of diverse people and communities through the establishment of the @danzcba DANZA awards.
So much to be thankful for!
