The Hare-Shaped Hole

Bertle the turtle and Hertle the hare are inseparable friends, showing kindness to one another and enjoying each other’s company, despite one being fast and one being slow. One day, quite unexpectedly, Hertle isn’t there; instead, there is a hare-shaped hole where she should be. Bertle looks high and low for Hertle, but only finds the hare-shaped hole, a constant reminder that Hare has gone. He becomes angry at the hole, and then pleads with the hole to bring Hertle back. In deep despair, Bertle cries and cries until Gerda, the kindly bear, finds him. Will Gerda bring back Hertle, or will Bertle find a way through his sorrow?
