A young boy wakes, excited to go to the beach with his grandad. He tells his grandad that he is eager to see the rockpools, build a sandcastle, have an ice-cream, swim in the sea and find pirate treasure. When they arrive, they set up base and spend hours building an elaborate sandcastle, rewarding themselves with an icecream. While the boy and his grandad are preparing to go for a swim, they find a stranded baby seal tangled in netting. They borrow a boat, determined to return the seal to its family. Will they be able to safely take the seal home, or will other challenges set them off course?

This whimsical story encapsulates the beautiful relationship between a child and his grandfather, and the ink and watercolour illustrations are delightful.
